SUKUR KINGDOM

We took a trip to one of Nigeria's wonder sites named SUKUR KINGDOM. It is located at the Mandara Mountains in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State in northeastern Nigeria. It is the first Nigerian landmark to be listed on the World Heritage Sites in 1999.
All i can exclaim is wow...that place is amazing. I think i even lost 2kg (lol), i have never experienced mountain climbing until yesterday (4:09:2011). It took us 2 hours to climb that mountain to the village and another 2 hours to get down to the low lands. I would say, i sucked at it big time, my knees almost gave up on me. And my other experience was, i tasted a bit of one of Nigeria's popular show named "Ultimate Search." You know, we all sit at home and judge the contestant, but frankly it  was not easy. I forgot about my courtly and charismatic lady-like attitude and embraced being a man for the 4 hours duration of that mountain climbing. The most interesting part was when the rain let down it's heavy down pour, i have never felt rain on my skin like stones hitting me. At a point, i felt the wind was going to blow us over the hill. I started sobbing inside and asked the Lord to forgive my sins (please don't laugh lol) am very serious. I began even wishing i never had a big butt, and that was the first time i felt that my body parts were heavy for me.
However, here is the fun part; Sukur village is located near Cameroon and has some supernatural beliefs attached to it. It is said, that the builders of the village are spirits who came at night and designed the village and afterward disappeared till date. No one knows what they looked like or saw their shadows. Accordingly, we were told that the fastest person that climbed Sukur mountain, used 16 minutes, exhale...isn't that awesome and super dope? What we used 2 hours to climb, in fact  the human specie is awesome. And the village is designed with rocks which has lasted for decades without breaking or falling apart.
Anyways, before we began climbing, the tour guard warned us not to lean on  the trees or even touch any rock. And, that some tourist have come and disappeared and they had to make some sacrifices to bring them back to the land of the living. Also, that there is a particular rock you can't touch, or else we would leave with instant rashes on our skin. In addition, for those rashes to disappear, they have to sacrifice to their gods. I made sure i took into consideration this part especially...laughs.

We just began climbing, isn't it an amazing view? Wow
The first sign as we began climbing

our grand arrival, laugh... that is the kings guard house

Don't touch section: Sukur Shrine

Entrance to the King's house...i kept wondering, they must be really skinny (lol)

^_^ hahahaa the King cannot pass this place after adornment as a King, or else he'll die

Earth is just beautiful...

On our way...If only we knew what was ahead. Fun!!! even though
